# Clearbit to HubSpot: Migration and Buyer-Intent Checklist

Quick answer

A Clearbit migration requires an inventory of the APIs, CRM properties, enrichment rules and buyer-intent workflows you use. Evaluate the current HubSpot capabilities against that inventory instead of assuming every legacy feature has a direct replacement.

A Clearbit migration requires an inventory of the APIs, CRM properties, enrichment rules and buyer-intent workflows you use. Evaluate the current HubSpot capabilities against that inventory instead of assuming every legacy feature has a direct replacement.

This is a Leadpipe-authored buying guide. Product statements are based on the linked vendor references; evaluation steps are recommendations, not reported test results.

## Inventory the dependency

[HubSpot buyer intent](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/reports/use-buyer-intent) reports company-level website activity and connects it to CRM workflows. That describes a current use case; it does not prove that a historical Clearbit API or custom application will continue unchanged.

| Dependency | What to record before migration |
| --- | --- |
| Input | Email, domain, company record or website visit |
| Output | Required fields and the meaning of each value |
| Consumer | Form, CRM workflow, report or application |
| Update rule | Create, overwrite, append or leave existing values |
| Volume | Records or actions under normal and peak usage |
| Rights | Intended use and authorized destination |

## Map capabilities one by one

Separate contact enrichment, company enrichment, form behavior and buyer intent. Test each on an existing record and a new record. Inspect when credits are consumed and what happens when a required field is absent.

Retain the previous field definitions until the consuming reports and workflows have been updated. A changed value can be technically valid while breaking segmentation or overwriting trusted information.

## Validate the transition

Run the candidate workflow on a controlled sample with clear source labels. Review duplicates, company association and suppression. Keep the ability to pause writes while resolving unexpected changes.

Use [Clearbit alternatives](/blog/clearbit-alternatives/) for non-native options and [Leadpipe versus Clearbit](/blog/leadpipe-vs-clearbit/) for a website-identification requirement. This guide describes migration checks; it does not claim a measured failure rate for HubSpot or an observed customer outage.

## Where Leadpipe fits

Leadpipe supports both account-level and person-level workflows. Its [IP to Company API](/product/ip-to-company/) retrieves stored company information from an IPv4 or IPv6 address; its separate [Identification product](/product/identification/) supplies eligible visitor records and activity. Choose company context for account research and person-level output when the action requires a specific visitor. A company lookup returns no people or visits. Confirm API eligibility and its separate lookup allowance in the [official documentation](https://docs.leadpipe.com/ip-to-company/introduction).

Person-level coverage is strongest in the US. EU/UK traffic defaults to company-level identification; person-level requires affirmative consent. Fields can be missing, so judge required output on your actual traffic. If you need research signals from outside your website, evaluate [Orbit](/product/orbit/) separately and check its audience allowances.

The [current pricing page](/pricing/) lists Pro 500 at $147/month for 500 identification credits. The trial is **7 days or 500 profiles, whichever comes first, no card**. Confirm the delivery and data-use requirements of your chosen plan.

Use the [vendor evaluation kit](/resources/visitor-identification/) to record the same acceptance criteria for every candidate. [Start a Leadpipe trial](https://dashboard.leadpipe.com/auth/signup) when website identification is the requirement you want to measure.
